that contains, among other things, a database of information on all Saabs, searchable by VIN and other stuff.
The IRIS "reports" on any Saab, will show exactly what happened to the car, service-wise, while it was under the original and (if applicable) CPO warranty. Only Saab dealers can produce the reports. A friendly service writer, service manager, salesman, heck, almost anyone at a Saab dealership can run a report on any Saab VIN for you. The reports DO NOT contain any information about who owned the car, so anyone who tells you they can't run an Iris for you on a particular vehicle due to "privacy" issue, is just blowing smoke.
The key to these reports, IMHO, is that not only can you see WHAT was done to the car under warranty (Were the oil changes done in a timely manner? Did that car have lots and lots of problems?...) but you can see WHERE it was done, by looking uop the dealer code. F'rinstance, if you're contemplating buying a used Saab that was supposedly from a snow-less clime, the Iris should show you that the service work was usually done at, say, a dealer in a place like California. If the Iris shows service work done mostly in, say, Minnesota or Maine, well, you get the picture.
I bought our last 2 Saabs, a 9-5 wagon and a 9-5 Aero sedan, on eBay and as a CPO from a Saab dealer, respectively. Both Iris reports, aside from oil changes and routine stuff like light bulbs and DIC replacements, indicated (at least to me) potentially decent vehicles. Proved to be the case. (On the other hand, I didn't buy that nice, clean, off-lease wagon that turned out to have the longest Iris report I have ever seen: almost 40 trips to the dealer under warranty: multiple electrical/tranny/drivetrain incidents, lots of time on the hook...)
