Actually Mike, it is the rear-view mirror that detects that you have glanced into, to look throught the rear window that initiates the wiper sweep....
OK, but I laughed when the same thing happened to me recently. I was in my MY05 SW, and the rear wiper came on unexpectedly. I was positive that I hadn't pushed the switch.
Hey, I thought, maybe it did it because I was in Reverse gear. So I drove down the street, put the car in reverse, and did NOT touch the switch, and it swiped again. Proof I didn't imagine it.
The reason it was a surprise to me is because I usually drive around in our MY99 SW, which doesn't have the Reverse-Gear swipe.
Anyone know if it gives you more than one swipe, if you leave it in reverse?
Cheers,
