Okay, so a few days ago I was at a drive through and I reached down for the change stash I have under the front passanger mat but when I stuck my hand in there the dimes were floating around...completely soaked. I came home, pulled the carpet as much as I could took the foam out....which btw really does hold three gallons of water....and dried it out. I then checked the drain tube it was fine, blew compressed air and decided that the best course of action would to be to open the air filter box and inspect. Then, and I don't know why it didn't hit me sooner, I checked the rear seat and sure enough the rear mat was also soaked and there is water held in under the carpet by the foam.
So I've read a dozen threads on how to clear the tubes and that's all fine and well but none except for one addressed the issue of what is eight square feet of soaked carpet and sound deadening material.....I can't imagine drying this out without taking the carpet out....no?... I can't imagine having to take the passanger seat out! I thought about slicing the carpet along the length from the door to the middle under where the seat cushion goes....but that wouldn't get me anywhere...I already pulled the plastic door edges and I the foam is wet everywhere.... the firewall foam, the front passanger foam, the back footwell foam.....is there any deadening material under the seat?
I'm scheduled to drive up to Lake Placid next week from NJ.....my car is torn apart, carpet upended everywhere, the inside smells like shite...it's dark outside, it's cold, I'm cold.... help!!! ..... if I got the seat out I could dry this stuff quick..... how hard is it to get the seat out.... how have the other members got the "standing water" out of their cars?
Thank you!
