Welcome to day two! (woo hoo!) My girlfriend knew things were going south when I started to bring pieces of the car home with me... I came in for soup with a glovebox under my arm....but nothing compared to what I had to hear when she tripped over a BIG piece of carpet and a plastic duct in her closet.. :)
At any rate: OK. I took the seat out yesterday morning (easiest part) took the trim, carpet, air ducts, wire harness and everything else off on the passanger floor pan front and rear. I changed my filter, lysol-ed the airbox, did an air and light test under the evaporator to make sure nothing was clogging, sprayed air, water, air....everything... I had the system in pieces... the whole air box was relatively leaf and debris free it doesn't look like the clog originated at the evap box/hose and this troubles me. The car is out back, her hair dryer(s) has been on four hours... the hardest part to dry is the piece of foam where the passanger rests their legs it's hard, absorbant and stuck to the firewall... I took the other two pieces out and they are bone dry from being in front of HVAC vents for two days.
I went to the dealer they chuclked, they gave me their blessings the ususal..."oh wow buddy good luck with that" but I wasn't able to get a clear understanding of where the sunroof drains go..... I sprayed those with compressed air too....the dealer said A pillar, I pulled off the cover and I have a bundle of wires and what looks like a 1/4" black plastic tube running the length of the a pillar inside the car and then behind the dash....is this the water drains down and empties out around the quarter panel? I'm having trouble tracing this tube all the way back....
Tomorrow we've supposed to get heavy rain in our area, If after 14 hours of work, I wake up to find standing water the next day I will loose it. I'm taping up the sunroof edges with tape until I can figure out where the drains empty and test those. However, the headliner, pillars and roof were dry with no visible water spots.
Is it possibile that the evap ac drain did clog, fill the car up with water and then unclog by itself while driving around? ....leaving the water in the floorpan and returning to normal operation? (I drove around with the water for a few days before I took it apart) I'm stumped because the drain seemed OK after I tore everything apart...
If anyone has ANY ideas as to where the sunroof drain holes go and where they empty out please chime in...
