Yes, I've searched the board, but would like more specific advice if possible. I have a 2003 2.3lpt with 97K miles with CPO. The water pump has been replaced twice in the last 50K miles, so I am starting to think it may not be the pump. I have experienced very slow coolant leak having to top off every 6 months or so since I've had it (bought at 48K miles). The water pump was replaced at 50K and more recently at 90K. Each time it was a very slow leak and no signs of coolant on the garage floor. The last time, I had suggested to the dealer that it could be the coolant bypass valve (couldn't believe the pump would only last 40K miles, but no, they said it was the water pump. Are the water pumps that bad? Or have I just been unlucky with them? The hoses checked out fine.

The last two days we have had cold temps getting no higher than 15F. So the heater it working harder, but great. BTW: the coolant sensor and t-stat were replaced at 95K miles. On Thursday morning I started the car to warm it up and when I came back out I noticed a medium size puddle of coolant under the engine. It is coming off of the plastic cover under the engine, so without removing it I can't pinpoint where the coolant is coming from. When the engine is warm there is no coolant visibly leaking. This morning I walked out to the car and noticed another medium sized puddle under the car. The resevoir is just above the min line.

Does it sound like the coolant bypass valve? Or something else? I have a hard time believing it is the water pump again, 3 pumps (incl. original) within 100K miles doesn't seem reasonable. Should I insist that they replace the coolant bypass valve? I need to sqeeze out as much as I can before CPO expires. Otherwise the car has been a champ and can't wait to put another 100K miles on it. Thanks for any advice or suggestions.
