Getting a new car is like getting a new girlfriend. My 2003 Cosmic Blue 9-5 Aero sits in my driveway in the place of my '89 900 SPG. It's beautiful, it has ever feature I could ever want, and it will surely be more reliable than my 900. But I think about how this new intruder is not my SPG that bit the dust in November. I have no connection to this car.
Like a new girlfriend, she's newer, loaded, more exciting, but it's not my SPG. I want to love this car, but right now I feel resentment. I bought my SPG because it was the car I always wanted - finally at the right price. I had to finance the new one. The SPG I bought because it matched my personality. Now I have a generic sports sedan on my driveway. When will I learn to love this car like I did my SPG? I want to love it; but...its just not quite as exciting. It has given me everything, including ventilated seats - but when will it take the same place in my heart?
