Yes, I bought a 2007 9-5 Aero last August a few weeks before the 2008's came out. I saved $9K off of sticker for a car that had 53 miles on it.
Like you, I started out looking for a clean 2005 with low miles; and I did find a 2005 ARC. After I added in the XM radio and 100K warranty I was within $1,500 of a comparable new one (non-Aero). Then after I drove it (loved it but hated the seats) I drove an Aero....and bought it. The $1,500 difference grew to $5K though....but I was ecstatic.
My advice…..buy a new 2007 and take the savings. The 2008 is virtually the same car…..without the hefty savings. Another not so minor point….on the 2007 Aero the sticker will state:
“Aero Package Includes: Lowered Sport-Tuned Chassis & Aero Academy Driving Program.” The 2008 Aero comes with a $1,000 credit towards a $1,500 program.
My new Aero now has 8K miles on it now…..and not one single warranty claim.
