I'd say the highway mpg is better with the AERO, because the transmission is paired to the higher HP engine (and it turns lower RPM's)
Fuel mileage is a hot topic on this BB...but it would be the same on either car in City Driving.
Regular fuel can be used with no problem on either car...and you DO NOT have a proportional loss in mpgs to the octane rating...just less "ooomph"...although my owners manual says to use premium when outside temps are above ~ 75 degrees...Regular gas (87) in cold Maine winters will allow your car to "start" easier than premium would. In the Michigan winter, mpg is a disaster simply due to all the stop and go, idling, warm-up etc....so I elect to use midgrade, unless the temps go sub zero, then I use regular.
I would recommend you evaluate using "top tier" brand fuels with whatever grade you fill up with.
