You may add some toe-in and see if it helps but keep it within the limits of SAAB recopmmended. Toe is (1.5 +/-0.5 mm). As for worn parts that will just have to be inspected. Jack up one side and try to wiggle the jacked tire. It should be relatively tight, but if is seems sloppy then possibly the rod ends are worn or the sockets in the rack are failing. You need to do this with engine running so the rack is pressurized but be careful. There is an adjustment for the engagement of the steering at the opposite side where the pinion enters the cylinder (On the forward side near the center) to the rack and it can be adjusted but it must be done by some one who has a gage for testing the rack load on the rack/pinion. Normally, this never needs adjustment in the life of a Saab. I adjusted mine on my 900 SPG once but I had almost 400,000 miles on it. A little beyond normal life I would say but it was such a fun car I didn't want to let it go. Now that was what SAABIN was all about. Keep in touch so we can see how you fixed it.
