I just bought a CPO 9-5 with this problem. After reading numerous posts I thought I'd try to fix it myself rather than make numerous trips to the dealer. I thought the problem was occurring in different places in the sunroof.
So, I bought some black felt sheets with a peel and stick backing from Michael's, a craft supply store. One place I thought I was hearing a rattle was between the glass and the black frame that holds the glass. So, I cut some one inch strips and without removing the backing wedged them folded between the frame and the glass. This tightened it up and got rid of some of the rattles, but not all.
The only other place left was the popup spoiler. I placed two strips on the top near both ends and that got rid of a few more rattles. But there were still some rattles left. Finally I placed a large rectangular square of felt on top of the spoiler in the middle and that completely stopped all of the rattles.
It took a while to track all of this down. I would put some felt on, take it on the same rough road each time and listen for rattles. It is rattle free now. The black felt blends in fairly well and doesn't look bad. It is a really nice 05 Aero Wagon with only 25k on it, but that sunroof made it sound like an old rattle trap.
