I just completed Round #3 in my quest to eliminate the annoying "Service Theft Alarm" message. Thursday evening I had one quick siren sounding and two long false sirens, one in a shopping center parking lot and one in my driveway. I pulled Fuse #14 and waited for better weather.
I attacked the siren gremlins again this afternoon. I was prepared to replace the very thin (24 ga?) wire leads eminating from the remote battery box with a more stout 18 gage automotive wire. My suspican was that the voltage drop thru these thin leads was too great.
Instead, I discovered two things when I went to remove the battery box from my car: 1) one of my crimped-on wire connectors pulled off the wire; and 2) the battery switch had fallen to the "OFF" position due to roadway vibration. I re-cripmed better connectors and secured the battery box ON-OFF switch in the "ON" position with tape.
Only time will tell if this is a valid solution. But Allan, if this doesn't work, I will be in Flint for business Friday morning and will stop by Trio Motors to have the "Test Alarm Battery" feature cancelled within the TWICE unit.
As for the Wacky Wipers on my headlamps. I ordered ten of the PolySwitches recommended by TonyJ on the 9000 board and will attempt his D-I-Y repair. I will report back with either success or failure on this "owner repair to non-repairable components" task as well.
Darn it! My siren just blipped in the driveway as I was typing this. On to Round #4, replacement of the too thin leads.
