Cold have just gotten stuck, or went out of bounds or something. If the other one was working properly, the sensors are probably fine, just a momentary interruption to the one controller or motor. Probably could have "fixed" it by rebooting the car...
OTOH, if it really did go dim, there might be a wiring fault or loose connector to that headlamp. A bad ground might make both of those things happen together. Check the connector at that headlamp.
