Since there is a design shortcoming on the original part, you can't really expect a repaired part to be any better then the original. A repaired SID will eventually start missing pixels. If you select a repair source that gives a lifetime warranty, you can return it every couple of years to be rejuvinated.
I had mine repaired by a source that gave a one year warranty. At two years it needed repaired again. This time I went with a source with a lifetime warranty. I think they only spend a few minutes reattaching wires to the display, so for the $70 to $100 fee the repair sources can afford to repair some of them a 2nd and 3rd time without losing their shirts.
