front turn signal bulb replacement

The front turn signal/parking light on the right side of our 2005 9-5 Aero was starting to look less amber than the one on the other side. Once I figured out how to access it (it's easy now that I know how to release the catch), I discovered that the amber coating on the inside of the bulb is mostly flaked off. I bought a new 1157 bulb from an auto parts store, and it immediately burned out when I turned the lights on (the parking light function burned out; the turning light part worked). Thinking I may have purchased a defective bulb, I bought another one, and it, too, burned out immediately. There must be something different between the stock bulb, which is labeled 1157A, and the replacements, which are marked 1157NA. Any ideas?
