Take a look at the air intake hose just before the throttle body. My 2002 arc had oil present here. The dealer diagnosed it as a failed turbo and replaced it, fortunately under warranty. I don't know if this symptom was conclusive, or even if it was the only determining factor, but thats why I brought my car in. The only other thing that comes to mind is someone told me somewhere along the way that since synthetic oil is more "slippery" than dino if you change over in a high mile car you can sometimes get oil leaking past previously good seals.
A WORD OF CAUTION- I would never again use a product that was designated as a high mileage oil or tranny fluid designed to swell seals and stop leaks. I used a sealer in a high mileage celica years ago and the tranny guy who rebuilt the transmission told me that as soon as the additive runs out the seals just collapse and dry out. My car just pee'ed tranny fluid after that. Short term fix, high cost repair. Just my opinion.
