You bought it used, right? Are you sure the previous owner did oil changes regularly? Although you may have gotten a bad apple, the engine can't be a complete turd, because a lot of people on here have had good experiences with it, bringing them to 200k miles and more. I wouldn't be so pessimistic that your new engine is going to take a crap too, especially assuming that PCV 6 was installed with it. That said, IMHO I would save the money that you would spend rebuilding the old engine for your next rainy day with this 9-5. That is, unless you enjoy working with your hands rebuilding stuff, which is also entirely reasonable. Good luck!
