V6 Thermostat Removal - Need Advice Posted by Greg Bender [Email] (#1027) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Greg Bender) on Tue, 20 May 2008 17:11:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi all,
The oil cooler plate in my V6 (2000 SE) is leaking, so I removed all the intake related parts and removed the oil cooler. Since the thermostat was so close, I decided to replace it, too. I've followed the instructions in the WIS, but I've come to an impasse. I'm ready to remove the aluminum connector pipe from the thermostat housing, but I don't see a good way to do that. I'm hesitant to start grabbing onto it with with channel locks and such.
It appears that I must remove the pipe before I can withdraw the thermostat. I'm not sure the pipe can be withdrawn from the vehicle once it is free from the thermostat. It would make it nice for cleaning purposes if it could.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Regards,
Greg Bender
