My 2001 Audi A4 is experiencing same problems.
You need to be sending complaints to MA AG's office.
I did this last Thursday. I notified MA Division of Standards and they are supposed to be testing. I fill up mostly at Sunoco.

IRA Audi in Danvers makes recommendations that makes no sense. Cleaning the MFPI? That makes no sense if there's higher ethanol content in the gas. Plus, they never bothered to advise draining my tank. And then to suggest (in writing also) to only use Shell Premium based only upon the "Toptiergas" website? That doesn' help if the problem is local and very recent. There are HUNDREDS of vehicles affected by this. What a load of $#%^$ they give for $105 and hours diagnostic advice. Didn't even check my gas with a ethanol separation kit. I hear that BMW has this kit for several years now.
What a bunch of overpaid parts changers!!!

I 100% have to believe the Mercedes Benz and Audi corporate know what's happening but will not release the full extent of what they know. They took gas samples nearly a month ago and still no info? I think that this makes them complicit!!

By the way, the ethanol mix doesn't come from the refinery. It's mixed at the depot which is local. Ethanol is miscible with water (it absorbs water), hence cannot be transported mixed with gasoline over long distances.
