Getting the Alternator out of the bottom.. Posted by Chadwick [Email] (#569) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Chadwick) on Thu, 5 Jun 2008 18:10:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hey there,
Doing my first 9-5 alternator, it's an early 1999 9-5. I've unbolted the rear motor mount as per WIS instructions. I can't seem to get enough room to drop it out of the bottom. I tried a pry bar under the tranny and prying using the subframe, no luck. I must say, it's hard to try to do that and pull down the alternator seeing as much force it takes to move the engine with the bar. I also tried to just jack the engine up, no luck. Almost, but not enough.
Since this is an early 9-5 it has that torsion bar that mounts under the engine that later 9-5's do not have (starting late 99 I think). Anyway, does this need to come off? WIS does not say anything about it. Could it be causing me to not get enough lift on the engine?
Anyway, advice is welcome, I'm rather frustrated.
Thanks,
-Chad
