I just went through the fix. If the shaft is still intact, I strongly urge you to just buy a new arm. The new arm is reinforced, so likely will not break again. I bought the arm/shaft from Saabsite, and was under the impression the old shaft could be pulled out of the housing by depressing a tab. It can't -- you need to cut the good shaft off inside the vent housing. I used a hacksaw blade. All in all I got the job done, but could have saved myself lots of time and money if I would have just replaced the broken arm.
