ABS Warning

I have a 2004 9-5. About two weeks ago, I got an ABS warning and ESP Off light on startup. I shut the engine off, re-started, and got the same lights. The brake fluid was above MIN, so I pulled the fuses for the ABS to make sure they were not blown or corroded. Everything looked OK, so I started back up and didn’t get any lights. A few days later, the lights came back on while I was driving, but once I shut the engine down and started it back up, they didn’t come back on. Then, they came back on at startup a few days ago, but once again, I shut down and started back up and the lights stayed out. I haven’t see them since. I’ve read that the ABS control module might be bad, but when the lights came on while I was driving, the speedometer kept working. The brakes have felt a bit spongy lately and the front pads are getting thin. I was planning on changing them and bleeding the system within the next few weeks. Is there any chance that could alleviate this problem? I will also make sure all of the electrical connections to the module are clean and tight. Does anyone have any other suggestions or know how I can troubleshoot this to narrow down the problem a bit?
