Head gasket failures on that engine are almost unheard of. What are the symptoms? If oil and coolant are mixing I'd guess the oil cooler is failing, which is not cheap to repair but a helluva lot cheaper than a head gasket job. I have a 2001 V6 with 178k miles and I'm having the same problem as you. It's been in the shop once a week for the past month getting stupid little things done, and it's still acting strangely. We'll see how it goes the next month or so...
