thumping vibration Posted by cork [Email] (#716) [Profile/Gallery] (more from cork) on Tue, 15 Jul 2008 10:17:11 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have just ordered new summer tires for my '02 9-5 wagon (Aero - mileage 78K plus or minus); but as I await my delivery, I notice that when driving between 67-77 mph the car has developed a pronounced thumping vibration. Everything is smooth as butter at 65 mph and again at 80 mph (with some minor increase in both symptoms from 65 mph due - I think - to the change in speed). Bad bearings produce a kind of grinding groan (at least my front bearings did before I replaced them last summer). Could this be the result of using a can of pressurized goo to fix the not very slow leak which inspired me to buy new rubber or is it something more obvious and ominous. I could have had this problem for a while since I have been driving for mileage in recent months which has re-acquainted me with the speed limit on I-90.
Any and all thoughts welcome and thanks...
