Report this incident to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), a US Government Agency. http://www.cpsc.gov/talk.html
Several months ago I reported an unsafe electrical product containing a manufacturing defect. Within 2 days they were at the house conducting an investigation and taking pictures.
This Agency will report the incident to Saab and request a response. A number of similar incidences will prompt a safety recall either based upon Saab's initiative or Government mandate.
At the very least, this will get Saab and the Government to look for a pattern. Rest assured, Saab does not want to be known for producing cars that run people over.
FWIW....I had the exact same experience (except that no one was run over) with a non-Saab rental car; because it automatically locked all of the doors, I had to use a hammer to break a window to get in and shut the car off. Enterprise Rental was not happy.
