I know Akebono pads get rave reviews on this website, and for that reason I purchased a set for the front brakes on my 03 9-5 Aero wagon from Tire Rack. The wheels look much better and they do stop well. However, it takes more effort to get the solid initial bite that you get under hard braking with the OEM pads, and this is after 3,000 miles on Akebono pads. I put Hawk HPS pads on my Acura RSX Type S and they were a definite improvement over the OEM Honda pads. But then again, I've never been impressed with OEM Honda brakes on any of the 3 Honda products I've owned. The Saabs I've owned came with great brakes from the start. Brake dust is the only issue I had with the OEM pads and that is something I will happily clean as long as I can stop as quickly as I need.
