dumb V6 serpentine tensioner question

Hi everyone,
I'll be tackling the new-to-me V6 timing belt this weekend, and to do so naturally I'll need to remove the serpentine belt.
The tensioner for the serp belt looks different than that for the 4 cylinder (which has the 1/2-inch drive socket for you to insert and pry with a breaker bar or extension). I don't see such a socket on the V6 tensioner.
How does one relieve tension on the V6 serp belt tensioner? Is it necessary to lock it in detensioned state prior to belt removal?
It's true: I'm tackling this job without a manual...but don't worry, I've rented the timing belt special tools and have read and reread the posts here and elsewhere on the timing belt procedure, so I believe I am well prepared. Except for the serp belt tensioner!
If it makes anyone feel better, I've rebuilt several 2.3s in 9000s over the years and have been a regular on that board for ten years or so.
Thanks for your help!
