I second that. Changed to the short belt on an '02 Aero manual and it is definitely smoother. Changed out the tensioner at the same time. Used a Wazee Al small idler pulley. I also have an '05 Aero auto which came stock with the short belt and other than the in-gear vibration expected with an auto, nothing is excessive. It's worthy of note that the '02 had the PS pump replaced under warranty prior to the switch to short belt.
