Those little arms are stoppers for the motor. the original design is prone to breaking. The newer ones are reinforced so they do not fail. I replaced one on my drivers side blending motor after getting warm air instead of the air conditioned air I was expecting. I also had a code 1.....08 on the ACC panel.
