Replacing a head gasket comes up to about $800.00 when I do it.
Rebuilding the cylinder head aka grinding valves and seats are not really needed nowadays. The valves and seats go on forever on modern cars (not domestic cars though).
Keep in mind that I haven't seen the car so I only base my answers from the most common problems. Everyone wants to have an answer in exactly how many more miles a car will run but no one can give that answer.
All depending on how much oil is leaking out, it is up to you to decide.
The weak spot on head gasket that allows oil to leak out will not necessarily lead to a failed head gasket where the car breaks down. It could, but it is not common.
After the PCV fix, the leak usually stay fairly calm so the best thing is to monitor it at every oil change. Or bite the bullet and have it replaced.
When replacing the gasket it is of uttermost importance that the shop knows about the problem spots and use extra anaerobic sealant. Otherwise, the leak will be back in a couple of years again.
