The easiest and best way to ensure the same level of performance is to use an OEM replacement, or a new pair of front speakers.
Whether you use an aftermarket, or a paired replacement approach, you still have to verify phasing of the new speaker(s). This can be done with an AA flashlight battery. Connect the battery to the two old speaker terminals and mark the terminal that causes the speaker cone to move out that is connected to the + side of the battery…..mark this terminal (nail polish works great for this). Do the same with the new speaker(s). Make sure that the wiring/connections in the car matches that on the old speaker and the new. This same procedure should be used on the second new speaker, if applicable.
If you ears are sensitive, my personal inclination would be use one OEM speaker or a new aftermarket matching pair. You could try one aftermarket speaker and check the results…..except that you may end up paying shipping costs twice.
