coolant pressure from the atmosphere introduces uneccesary vulnerability, even though the quality of the part seems high. I have investigated other alternatives with Autozone and NAPA, with no success. I found a part PLR-5945 at Summit racing, similar to the Ford valve, but at least 2 of the spigots are bigger. I ordered one and expect it in mid November.
Other ideas:
1. Epoxy the less accessible rear vent port to make it easier to block the forward one as an emergency fix.
2. Block both ports with epoxy, then drill and tap the front port with, say a 3 mm (or 4-40)screw thread. The smaller hole, likely still big enough to work as a vent, will be much more likely to block with Barr's stop leak. Also, carry a matching screw to block it in an emergency.
Do 9-5s have a heater core issue like the 9000? Do any of you use Barr's routinely?
