I went on a 200 mile trip recently in a freinds Acura RL 3.5 MY 2000 , it had 115k miles and he picked up for $ 6k - the thing appeared to be almost in new condition, quiet and rode like a dream. Not a Saab but a very refined auto with a pretty good reliability rating.

Although many posters apparently have had no problems with their 2004 ARC - mine required 11 trips to the dealer for warranty repair - things like CPS, TB, ACC (numerous times) heat by pass valve, valve body on tranny - and a lot of the stuff had failed before hitting 30k . Good news it was fixed on Saab's dime - but the car has been far less than trouble free.

You are most likely better driving the car you have - to most prospective buyers putting all the money you have spent will not raise the value of the car and an older Saab does not draw much attention or warrant a robust used car price.

I also have a 1999 9-5 and the 2004 ARC is the wife's - I drive it occasionally and yes it has more low and mid range performance and handles better - but it is very coarse at idle especially when cold and the ride can be a bit harsh and noisy depending on the road.

I cannot tell a whole lot of difference in available power at speeds of 60mph and up, despite one car rated at 170hp and the other at 220hp.
