Theft Alarm Removal

So I have recently had the same problem as it sounds like many others have, my alarm has been going off randomly in the middle of the night. I have searched the board and it sounds like replacing the batteries in the siren is the way to go, I will probably do this in the future, but for now is there any problem with removing the siren unit all together? Obviously the alarm will not work, but beyond this, anything? I know these cars are finnackey, but the whole neighborhood is pissed at me and I don't have the the time to replace the batteries at the moment, nor the money to pay the dealer to do it, so I am in need of a temporary fix. Also heard that pulling fuse 14 will stop the alarm, but some people say no?
