I just did my rear brakes Posted by adl6009 [Email] (#2526) [Profile/Gallery] (more from adl6009) on Thu, 20 Nov 2008 09:14:33 In Reply to: Questions on rear brake procedure & tools, Noel, Thu, 20 Nov 2008 06:49:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
and its basically the same as the front brakes. The parking brake has an adjuster just like the old drum style brakes do. Turn the star through the adjuster hole the right way and the drum style parking brake will back away from the drum, which I thought was very cool the way they made it part of the rotor like they did. (If I remember correctly, the adjuster is at the top of the drum, line up the hole on the drum to meet the adjuster) Mine needed no adjustment, the rotor just came off no problem. The rotor is held on by a different kind of screw than the front. I got new ones from eeuroparts when I ordered the parts. I have the motive power bleeder with the drip bottles. To push back the pads I hook up the bottles to the bleeder screw, open it, and used a screw driver and or a pliers to push back the piston. When you are done you can bleed the brakes easily with one person, or you can go all the way and change out the brake fluid at the sames time. Easy to do. PS-At 80k miles there was still plenty of meat left on the rear pads
