when you drive around a larger corner the hum will change tone,if on a left corner it is the rt side bearing, if on a rt corner left side bearing.
on the 9-5 the bearing is pressed in. they are interchangable and easy to do if you have access to a press or if you have a parts store that has one.
all you need is the Bearing, but you might want to get the Clip to be safe.
just jack up car, remove tire, pop of center cap from the tire/rim and also from the center hub and put tire back on, lower car and you will need to remove the Big Axle nut (you will want the car on the ground and use a big breaker bar to do this) once loose, jack up car again and remove tire, then remove brake calliper, tie rod end, 2 bolts on the strut and then lower ball jt. now be carefull with the axle nut threaded onjust so the end of the axle is flush with the nut, tap the axle out of the hub as far as you can till you need to remove the nut. you don't want to damage the threads. so now remove the nut and carfully tap it the rest of the way out, it might come right out now, and you also need to be carefull not to pull the axle out of the inner driver (transmission) Now take the hub to someone to have the bearing pressed out!
to get this far this may take 10 minutes to 1 hr depending on your abilities! I can easily get this far in 10 minutes or less
this should be a 1 hr job total at most dealers. I got a bearing from a local supplyer for my 01 for $28, I think the dealers was $54 so under $200 for a front wheel bearing. if they want $600 I would never go back!
