I did the job 2 weeks ago thanksgiving weekend along with many other repairs. Learned a bit about these cars compared to old American cars I always wrenched on. I cheaped it out and got a used motor for $50 from junk yard.. I used a cheap battery cable puller which worked great for passenger side popped right off, but driver side not so lucky.. had to crank it so tight bent it severely trying to get driver side off, I all but gave up after almost an hour and penetrating oil and many regrips and light taps with plastic hammer and a couple beers.. figured may as well keep cranking to either break the $5.00 puller or the job stops here for now.. finally popped off after extreme pressure and stud and arm were quick corroded. took rest apart and surprise... found a nest in air box was full of dirt and debris and cabin filter nasty.. vacuumed out and washed entire air box.. what a PITA... took apart new used motor and cleaned/sanded already worn brushes and rotor (was gouged 1-2 MM) electric cleaner sprayed and tested, worked nice and quiet.. installed.. I had not problem getting old motor out or new in, twisted it here and there and popped it out, changed cabin filter and tested, worked great and quite, cleaned grooves on wiper arm and stud and coated with antiseize before reinstalling.. see how long the "new" old fan will last.. it's great to get heat and defrost back for now.. next time will do a new one and replacement will be piece of cake.. next chore is fix code 8 issue... cold air from drive side heat, vent and defrost… and it goes on and on..
