During the nearly 9 years and 239,000+ miles of ownership of my 2000 model I have used a limited variety of synthetic oils.
Mobil-1:
Initially 10W/30 as the owner's manual stated, then a couple of changes with 0W/40, but primarily 5W/40 Turbo Diesel Truck & SUV
Shell Rotella-T Synthetic:
5W/40 weight when I could not find Mobil-1 brand oil. This oil is also marketed as a diesel engine oil, is a Group-III synthetic rather than a Group-IV like Mobil-1(which is important to some people and not important to most),and costs about 2/3's of Mobil-1 price.
ELF / TOTAL:
Recently I have switched to these oils due to a local beneficial pricing anomaly which results in these oils at a local specialty chain being less expensive than Mobil-1 at the discount places.
Penzoil Platinum:
Said to be a very good oil, possibly better than Mobil-1, and usually less expensive than Mobil-1. Unfortunately for me, no one in my area carries this oil in a weight usable in my cars so I have no experience with it.
