Genuine Saab Air Filter ok?

I've read some posts about people not liking the K&N filter because oil can mess up the MAF sensor. How about the one sold by Geniune Saab? I mean the drop in, not the high flow.
What if I buy a new one ever year instead of re-oiling it?
I like my 9-5 Aero but she doesn't seem to have quite the punch I recall from my 9-3 SE. Power is higher in the revs and more linear, which is nice. But still, I want more of that push-me-back-in-my-seat feeling.
Also, after putting in new platinum NGK plugs and changing the oil I still only get around 27mpg highway. I used to get 32mpg on my 9-3 SE.
Thanks,
N
