The most common cause, especialy on an 8 year old model, is dead batteries in the siren unit. A Saab Tech can use a Tech-II device to determine exactly what component of the alarm system is has failed.
Assuming it is the batteries, the Tech can disconnect the siren unit electronically from the car by use of the same Tech-II device. Your car will still have a fully functioning alarm system, but it will sound alerts using the car's horn rather than the siren unit.
See posting below which references earlier instruction from Anders on how to disable the siren.
Some owners just unplug the siren but that will result in the same annoying "Service Theft Alarm" message on the SID every time you start the car.
