I think it only trips if a door or hood is opened - which explains why he went in head first through the window.
Cleaned up the glass this morning. Only challenge left is making sure the dealer cleans the debris out of the door interior bottom. Any bit of glass can lead to a clogged door drain and future rust.
In hindsight, I think I would have had the same reaction and am glad I opted not to pull the perp out of the van. He would have been injured and I might be in some trouble. I'm pretty achy today with purple knuckles and a very sore knee (from jumping on the hood). Those mini van wipers make a pretty hefty and useful tool.
