the Linear has a Garrett GT1752; the Aero has a Mitsubishi TD04H15 (same internals used on other cars -Volvo for instance- but "outside" is SAAB specific).
You can upgrade the Garrett to an Aero with some mods (primarily the water lines and banjos, plus the oil return line).
The Mitsu is reputed more robust, a lot of Garretts seems to die around 90K or so (although some members apparently went a long way without any problem).
I personally changed my Garrett with a Mitsu a couple of months ago. If this is what you have in mind (?), I'm not sure I'd recommend it given the extra expense and the not so noticeable performance differential), unlike you are planning to keep your car for another 90K or so.
