First I wanted to thank everyone on this board for posting - it has been very very helpful and I have saved a lot of money. I saved over $3000 by doing the ABS module myself.
Now to the problem at hand. I have a 2000 9-5 Wagon 4cyl. My alarm was going off for no reason and the SID was displaying the Security Theft Alarm message. I brought the instructions from Anders/SWEDECAR to my indie mechanic and they said they followed the instructions. The alarm has now been disabled as has the SID display for STA. BUT now I can't lock the tailgate. When I lock the doors thru the key button, turning the key in the drivers side, or use interior button the 4 doors lock all at once (it isn't the 2 step process) but the tailgate does not lock. Is this an expected result of disabling the alarm or did something go wrong? What do I (or my mechanic) need to do to fix this- please post detailed instructions. I really need to be able to lock the tailgate.
ALSO, when I got the car back from the mechanic after this fix I had a new SID display - Brake Light Failure - but when I check the lights they appear to be working. Is this related or was this a coincidence? how do I fix this?
Thanks for your responses.
Lisa
