I agree with you.
Marketing research, and my own experience, would tend to disagree with you.
There's a powerful pull for a self deploying emergency system from the same core that family values come from. Nobody ever went broke appealing to the lowest common denominator, which in this case is fear and security.
You drive a Saab, have a cell phone and are GPS compatible, not your typical pro OnStar demographic, but a dear friend of mine who has a cool 9-5 Arc SportWagon (the cell phone and GPS too) anyway he got an Acadia with OnStar and is sold on the idea.
Similar systems come on BMW's and Benz's too and not all of those folks are slow breathers either. There is a powerful pull that makes people endorse the idea.
