There are more downsides to ethanol than there are benefits. Right now, the cost of producing ethanol is higher than the cost of gasoline, which is why Citgo dropped it. Add in the lower gas mileage and the cost to the consumer was pretty high. Many major ethanol producers have gone bankrupt. Ethanol was a total scam. Good riddance. I wish Oregon would dump it's requirement, but the way they wrote the law, we are stuck with it until they change the law.
No need to clean injectors. A couple years ago, the petroleum industry, at the behest of the car makers, introduced the "top tier" specification, which requires more detergents, etc to keep injectors clean. All the major refiners meet the standard. I have some Techron sitting on the shelf & never used it. With over 100K on the car, I have never had an injector problem. Before Top Tier, I usually used Chevron gas which had Techron in it & met the TT spec before the spec was written; now I don't pay any attention except to buy from a major brand.
