In my US version '01 Aero Wagon, I can use the remote to lock the doors, then use the key to unlock without setting off the alarms. The key in the lock is interchangeable with the remote.
FYI, you can have the chirps programmed: On/Normal (Loud), On/Soft (very quiet), or Off. Mine is set for "Off" for unlock and "On/Soft" for lock. The 'thunk' of the locks moving is louder than the soft chirp, and does the job. I can easily hear the locks move from across the street. IMHO, the chirp is unnecessary.
