I've owned an 01 9-5 SE for more than 4 years. Best car I've ever owned. I still look forward to getting in and driving it. I have a bumper to bumper warranty on it that expires this September 09. I can renew it, but only with a powertrain warranty. Given the cost of parts on these cars I like warranty protection. Consequently I decided to start looking at a newer 9-5 and zeroed in on the 2006 because it's got some important enhancements.

I just got back from a test drive (sport version) and have the following impressions.
- In many respects it feels like my 01, but
- It's got better acceleration (no surprise)
- I like how the suspension felt tighter than mine
- It hugs turns better than mine
- I was quite pleased that the engine is virtually as quiet as mine at idle (I remember test driving an 01 Aero years ago and hated the engine rumble).

This feels petty, but I'm disappointed with the dashboard. It's all black and the material used looks and feels inferior to the beautiful two tone dash on mine. When I got home and told my wife, she rolled her eyes in disgust.

To 06 - 09 owners, am I overreacting? Do you even think about it?
