In 30+ years of driving ~ 15 different SAABs over 1 million road miles, I've had one SAAB fuel pump replacement due to failure---and it happened on this 2001 LPT CPO that I now have....
I have always atempted to keep the fuel tank at least 1/2 full... on this 2001 however, this has not been the case...and Voila...almost a year ago the pump went bad. Live and learn.
Myth? No. BOTH the SAAB master tech of 27 years experience, and the indie (30+ yrs esperience) in this area still recommend keeping the tank with at least 1/2 full.
