Sound/Noise report.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 23 Mar 2009 05:38:41 In Reply to: Re: Down Pipe arrived today!, Brooks G, Fri, 20 Mar 2009 13:18:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Noise from the exhaust at idle is a pleasant quiet rumble. I previously had a failed Intermediate Pipe in my exhaust so I can't say for sure if it is louder than the standard downpipe coupled with the SAAB/Remus system, but definitely not objectionable.
Sound at a steady 70-75mph is subdued also. The exhaust note is nearly masked by the slight wind noise of our 9-5s, and completely masked by tire noise if driving on grooved concrete. I just installed new tires which are very quiet, noisy tire treads will overcome the exhaust note at all speeds.
Punching the throttle hard at 60MPH to merge onto an expressway sounds as if the Gates of Hell have just opened! Back off the throttle after reaching your desired speed and the exhaust sound disappears again.
