Detached clutch! Posted by Gregg [Email] (#677) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gregg) on Thu, 26 Mar 2009 11:43:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Saabers,
My wife and I have a CPO'd '04 Arc Wagon. And my wife said that she noticed the clutch pedal engaging at various points. We brought the car into our local dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong. Two weeks later we brought the car back and they tell us that we have a detached clutch! I've never heard of such a thing. We bought the car w/ 58K and it now has just under our 100K limit.
Of course the clutch isn't covered under the warranty, and of course I'm concerned that it screwed up some of the synchros or forks in the trans. Also, the dealer wants $1300 for the labor of the clutch, slave cylinder install. Does that seem reasonable for a dealers cost? Is this really a fifteen hour job?
Should I try and go higher in the Saab family and see if the clutch was defective during the manufacturing process? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
