Try 225/55/16 if you end up buying. You would not believe how much better the extra height and width makes the car drive. I have tried 17's and 16's (I've had 14 Saabs and presently have four) and just about every iteration, including 225/50/16 (which I really didn't like that much). But my favorite is 225/55/16. Of course I live in a city with some real bad roads. Have bent a few wheels that had low aspect tires. The 225/55/16s just handle potholes and railroad tracks and speed bumps and tar strips so much better than any other configuration. And they cut down on rattles which drive me nuts. I have 225/55/16's on three Saabs right now -- two 9-5s and a 9-3. Changes the speedometer about 2mph per hundred. Really fill out the wheelwells nice too as they are about a half inch larger.
My favorite tires are the Continental Extreme Contacts which I buy from tirerack (all three sets are these). Have tried other brands but these just seem to be the best overall. And since they are V rated, I really can tell no difference in handling. Just a great all around tire if you don't need winter tires or summer tires won't do.
